Penguin Book Cover
Client: University Project. Categories: Illustration, Hand-Lettering, Publishing. Brief. Penguin Books every year has an annual design competition for students which is to recreate a book cover for 1 of 3 titles. I decided to choose Harper Lee's - To Kill a Mockingbird. After watching the film and reading the original book the idea here was based on the part where items are stored inside of this tree. For this I tried to create something different as many existing designs all follow the same sort of style so instead I used feather to recreate the head of a mockingbird. When you see the front of this cover its almost as if you're looking in, but only those who have read and watched then film will understand the concept. I hand drew the lettering for the book and all the illustrations were done using an iPad Pro and Pencil. I had just gotten these pieces of tech and thought I would incorporate it into my design work.
